They missed a major infection after a cleaning

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I purchased partials in October 2023 nothing found on xrays. Then I had a cleaning in Dec 2023 and my teeth started hurting.

Went back in, they took an xray, found nothing, told me to use Sensodyne. After a few more days the pain got worse. I went back in, they took another xray, told me I had a major infection. My options are 2 extractions and a new partial or 2 root canals with no guarantee if that will save my teeth.

All this for free. I asked about antibiotics, she agreed, I was to return in a week. I went to another dentist. After 2 rounds of antibiotics I have to go to an Endodontist to see what they think.

I filed a complaint with the BBB, a lady called me from Aspen Dental, apologized and said I could return there for treatment, I told her no, I don't feel comfortable going back to them after what happened. Nothing else was offered.

I don't know yet what my costs will be, no Endodontist will take my Humana dental insurance. This has been awful for me.

Here is the truth, the real truth!! How many people have reviewed this money laundering machine a lot, I would believe people who didn't get paid to leave a review

Misdiagnosed everything on me

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Quoted me at almost 13,000 dollars and told me I had bone loss as well as needing a deep cleaning. Very sales oriented and trying to pressure me into financing the money that day.

Went and got a second opinion thankfully, was told I do not have bone loss, I do not have peridontal disease and it is not going to be anywhere near 13,000 to get the work done. Will not take calls when I got a bill for 82 dollars, thankfully I had the email for the regional manager in my state. Filed a report with BBB and I will be making a report with the Dental Board in my state as well as the Attorney General's office. I feel so bad reading all the things Aspen has done to its customers.

Seeing former Aspen Dentist leaving comments on Reddit and Facebook saying to avoid the place, should be enough proof to run from that place. If not go read the 17,000 people's horror stories on facebook.

Preferred solution: Shut this place down, they are not doing what is best for the people going here. This is a scam company looking to make money off of people in pain.

User's recommendation: Do not go here, if you did then go get a second opinion for your own piece of mind. Do not finance right away, take a day to think it over and look up estimates on your own.

Hello. The reason for my email is to express my disappointment with your Macedonia location. Jasmine the receptionist was extremely rude to me when addressing my conerns. She lacked the basic customer service skills. I often let things go but I felt someone should know how your customers are being cared for. I am in the process of seeking dental care at another facility.

Concerning events at St Pete Tyrone

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Hi-

I was a first time customer at Aspen Dental Tyrone on Feb 28th 2024. I had a 4:15 appointment that was labeled as emergency.

I arrived early at 3:30. I was advised to come early because they always run late by the receptionist. I wasnt seen until 4:45.

While waiting for my hygiene, cleaning and doctor visit- there was an emergency in the room next door and all personal was running around frantic. I was screamed at to GET OUT NOW and we will call you to reschedule.

This was highly upsetting- nothing was accomplished. Im extremely concerned about the professionalism at St. Pete Tyrone.

It was a chaotic mess. Please call me to confirm you received this message so we can discuss the situation at hand.

Unprofessional dental care as well as terrible customer service

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Original review Feb 23, 2024

I went in to get the so called free consultation and exam and also a price for the cost on the price of getting a filling replaced. By the time.

I left, they had me convinced I had something wrong with my lower 8 front teeth underneath my gum. I had 3 choices for treatment. I knew me dental insurance would only pay for $3,000 per year for dental coverage. I had partials in the lower back that's why I only had the 8 teeth.

The first choice was dental inplant or secured denture. The price was around $15,000. I knew that would impossible because I had a had time pulling together the money I had to pay out of pocket. After 21 days of not being able to eat, getting anyone to answer the phone or ever returning my voice mail.

I went to a dentist in private practice and showed him the xrays. I asked if he could see any problems. Since at that time I had no teeth left, all he could say was there was a small cavity that would have needed attention. It was just above the gum line.

I am fuming at this point. The $198 that I paid the dentist was well worth it just to know that I have what I need if I can find a lawyer to help.

Worst Experience Imaginable

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

The worst experience imaginable. Ive had several friends and family warn me about Aspen Dental, 4001 Denny Avenue, Pascagoula, MS, but nothing could have prepared me for the series of lies and corruption from the administrative staff to the dentist himself.

I checked in early with two admin assistants who were immediately cold, unprofessional, aggressive, aloof, and snide.

I completed the paperwork, and provided two forms of very good insurance, despite the lies of one admin assistant who ineptly (and unethically) played lawyer and falsely advised me on what the law required. I almost left immediately as I sensed a scam, and in hindsight should have left right away.

Over the next 2 hours and 20 minutes (0950 to 1220), I was moved among four rooms, received in depth X-rays from a very sweet and professional dental assistant, but also received false and contradictory information from dental nurse and dentist. I was told several times that I was being assessed for the type of cleaning that would be best, and that I would be able to choose once all of the prep work was completed. After two hours of being moved around, I was treated to alternating sweet and aggressive staff, getting false and contradictory information on my insurance and the type of cleaning and the next steps and the condition of my teeth and the purpose of the equipment (etc) from several staff.

Finally I got the hard up-sell scam from a third admin assistant and from the dentist himself. I was told that I had to choose the most expensive treatment, and that none of my insurance would cover anything.

As I left to the lobby, on my departure, the most aggressive admin assistant loudly stated that the gingivitis deep cleaning was the only treatment that was legal to provide. Again, unprofessional at best and malpractice at worst. This was the final step of the scam.

The whole staff lied, bullied, and attempted to scare me into the most expensive treatment that coincidentally wasnt covered by my insurance. The dentist even came to the lobby and aggressively confronted me, saying that the admin assistant never said that. A complete lie.

After 30 years of testifying in federal court, I know false legal advice and unethical behavior when I hear it. The more the dentist insisted, you didnt hear that, the more the scam became obvious.

The whole office was scared at being called out for the unprofessionalism, the lies, and the bullying. When the dentist realized that I knew what I heard, and knew it was a scam, he meekly said, well three employees thought you were rude. Im sure they did. Its hard to confront a liar and a bully without doing so clearly and directly.

Im sure they felt I was rude of me not to go along with the scam.

I escaped this scam, after wasting almost two and a half hours, and immediately went to another dentist (Bienville Dental Group). They were wonderful, professional, and honest. No scam, no lies, no bullying, no alternating sweet and aggressive treatment (common among scams). They were able to verify my MetLife dental insurance in less than 30 seconds (Aspen couldnt verify it with more than 30 minutes effort).

After some brief X-rays, I received the thorough and professional cleaning and checkup I had hoped to receive from the first.

What an ugly experience of lies and corruption at Aspen Dental. I can only be thankful that this scam, and the very rude and unprofessional dentist and staff didnt trap me in their lies.

I have discussed this experience with several friends (more than 10) who are also dentists and dental hygienists working in Louisiana and California, and every one of them were shocked and apologetic, but not surprised.

They have each heard of such experiences with Aspen Dental before. Additionally, I have reported this incident to the Dental Advisory Board, the Better Business Bureau, and have left reviews on several platforms.

Shame on Aspen Dental for bullying clients, especially the older clients, into paying exorbitant prices and lying to the patients theyre supposed to help.

It made me give 1 start but they deserve zero

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

This literally was the worst dental exam for my children and I! Not only was it disorganized but I received over 30 text messages; bombarded my phone before our visit even happened.

The day of the visit was unpleasant and unprofessional. The visit turned into an UPSELL the client event.

Focused on trying to sell scaling cleaning instead of just scheduling regular cleaning...even though their chart on the wall describes the issues with gingivitis which my son and I had NONE of...they still tried very hard to sell us on scaling and even when we declined...when we spoke to the insurance lady at the end there she was selling it again. When I asked them to show me where on my teeth...unable to or even explain WHY.

Malpractice

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Aspen dental, this one particularly in Morris, IL, lied to me about work that needed to be done and a false sense of urgency. They wound up pulling 4 healthy teeth and prescribed me pain medication, it clearly states in my paperwork I cannot have.

The most greedy and unprofessional business I have ever had the displeasure of attending. I will now have to pay a fortune to get implants. They have incentives to get customers in dentures/partials. I am 23.

Your jaw deteriorates after getting teeth removed if you don't get implants. This really affects my quality of life and self-esteem. Turns out they're doing this all around the country.

I cried for a week straight when my original dentist confirmed the majority of this procedure was completely unnecessary. Please, for your sake, do not go to Aspen Dental.

Updated by user Feb 15, 2024

They have refused to cancel the insurance claim so I can go to another dentist. It's not going to stop me. I have an appointment next week to see how much damage was done and how much it will cost to fix.

Original review Feb 14, 2024
I went to have 1 filling replaced and they insisted that I get free exam and xray. After doing so, the hygienist who did the xrays said that I have work that needed to be done in the other 7 teeth in the front.

She said it was under the gum. The office manager took me to her office and gave me 3 options ranging from $3,000-$10,000. I am on disability due to seizures. My insurance only allows 3,000 so I had to get 8 teeth pulled.

2 of which the bone is still exposed 14 days later. When I went in for a follow up I asked for copies of the xrays. Looking at them, I saw nothing wrong but the area where the filling needed replaced. The thing that really gets me is the right before the dentist was getting ready to extract the teeth she asked me why I didn't get a crown where the filling was and let them fix the other ones.

That would have been $7,000. I told her I couldn't afford to. She just shrugged her shoulders.

On top of the past 2 weeks without being able to eat, they told me I had to pay $640,00 out of pocket even though my insurance company pays for $3,000. The same amount I was quoted

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I had insurance at the time of getting dentures and they charged me a lot of money out of pocket. The dentures look like horse teeth and dont stay in your mouth. Ive went back several times to have them fixed and they give you the run around and insist its because youre a first time denture wearer. They just soak you for money for very poor quality. I got the top of the line dentures and come to find out, they are all the same. They mess with you long enough so that the 30 day money back guarantee is no longer valid.
