Incorrect Billing

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I went in for x-rays and a dental exam on Monday, May 13 of this year. They told me that I should come in for a cleaning, so I scheduled my cleaning for May 16. At this point, I prepaid $48 for the cleaning. Nothing was mentioned about concerns of any additional cleaning (outside of the standard) being necessary.

At my cleaning appointment, the hygienist suddenly asked me if anyone had told me I had periodontal disease before, to which I said no. She told me that I seem to be developing it and that she was going to need to do a more intense cleaning. It wasn't clear that this would be an additional cost, but that was fine. However, as I was going to leave, she told me that she made a mistake on the paperwork and that it listed my cleaning twice (once on the day of the cleaning and a consecutive day, the 17th).

She said that the front desk should see her note and fix it.

I went to the desk, but the representative there was on the phone. They took the paperwork and told me to have a good day. Weeks later, however, I received a bill that indicated the double-billing for the treatment and didn't appear to remove the amount I'd already pre-paid for the cleaning. I called the claim number and they told me that my insurance was already contesting this claim.

Since then, however, I've called back and heard the same thing. Despite this, I keep receiving billing reminders via text/email and now the price has increased from $158 to $172.40 on the most recent statements. (The statement still has the duplicate billings as well.)

With all of this in mind, I was wondering if I could get some help to ensure I'm not delinquent on any payments you're asking for. Especially the duplicate charges that they're listing on the statement each month for the 16th and 17th when I only came in for cleaning on the 16th.

I have documentation from my bank listing the $48 I already paid and appointment confirmations listing the May 13 exam and May 16 cleaning dates if those would be helpful too. I'd love to send it along.

Aspen dentures are horible

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Aspen Dental - Aspen dentures are horible

I received dentures from Aspen in late January 2024. The dentures are horrible; I feel like I have a mouth full of rocks on my right side and my gums are still sore.

I called Aspen in Carrollton, Georgia to get in to see someone to get this resolved. I am usually informed that it will take at least two weeks to see someone, although I am having issues and am in pain. I called the corporate office to ask for a refund; I was redirected back to the office where I had my dental work. I was told that time has run out for me to get a refund, and in the same breath, was told that the dentures I have are temporary, not my permanent dentures.

How can time run out on temporary teeth for a refund? Anyway, I was set up for an appointment to see what's going on with my temporary dentures.

The next day, I got a text from Aspen Carrollton, Georgia, stating that I had to reschedule the appointment. The best thing that has come out of my experience with Aspen Dental is the weight I have lost because food does not taste good to me anymore.

"Temp dentures are going to be horrible, not feel good and you will hate them" those are the exact words that my dentist told me, she even suggested to only wear them when going out in public. Temps will never feel great or be comfortable, your gums are also still healing. They should've educated you better.

Despite high hopes, I was very disappointed in this dental practice. After my uppers were extracted, my temp dentures were not placed & the next day swelling was too much to put them in for over 30 days.

When I finally tried to put them in, there was so much whittling & cutting down, the dentist and I agreed they were so messed up we should start again. The staff seemed to not communicate with the dentists and there seemed to be an air of confusion about knowing what needed to be done. Each procedure for impressions was vastly different. As a patient, I rely on professionals to know what they are doing & to do it properly.

The final ones delivered were so grossly made & too large for my mouth so I could not eat with them nor close my mouth properly. The final straw was when I went to an appt I made directly with Dr Masters. I showed up on 6/24 & was told I was not on the schedule and they could get me in on July 9. That is when I advised I wanted my money back and was not happy with their service or products.

The office staff responsible for making appts do not know how to do their job although they blame it on the "system". Multiple times I showed up for my appointment to be told, we don't have you in our system, we can see you in a few weeks or so. They would cancel/reschedule appointments and then call me on the original date to ask where I was. Every time I was in the office, there was at least one or two other patients going through the same thing.

Their communication or lack thereof is totally unprofessional and a waste of their patients' times. I called multiple times on various issues and very rarely got a call back. I left a message 3-4 times for the office manager Sarah to call back last week and have yet to hear from her. They also do not answer the phone consistently.

I have spoken to their answering service more than I have talked to the MHC office. They change the office hours routinely without notice to their patients. I had to physically walk into MHC office to make sure anything was done because I knew my phone calls would not be returned. It is inexcusable to not return specific phone calls where messages or left or to let a patient wait 4 weeks or so with an explanation of a delay in the process.

Again, after 2-3 phone calls I finally received the explanation and an appointment. In my humble opinion, they do not have their practice together enough to be open to the public. Some of the individuals working there in the back especially were very nice and have heard many of them comment about how messed up the scheduling is. They need to shut their doors and retrain/hire new or shut their doors permanently.

They do NOT have near the services they advertise like walk ins, emergency services etc.

I would advise others to find another dental practice that is not a "chain". I will be filing complaints with the BBB, NC Dental Board Aspen Corp. The should be reviewed for their business and professional practices. Not that they will do anything or even care as I see from reading others' reviews.

All they do is pass the buck and.

I feel like I was just a number and dollar sign.

They waste their patients' time, allow improperly trained personnel to perform dental services and in general do not represent, in my opinion, much in the way of any standard of care for a dental office in all areas of the practice.

I did receive a refund in a timely manner and I am thankful for that but due to their incompetence I have to start over with a new dentist for something that started in March of 2023.

Aspen Dental- please do NOT respond to me on here with false appreciation & passing on my "concerns" to make yourselves look good. I am not interested as you all had plenty of opportunities to speak with me during the process but the majority of the time, I couldn't even get a call back.

Aspen Dental - I've already paid a front and no one wants to finish the job I haven't...

The office in Foley, Alabama, will not see me. They refuse service, and I am walking.

This is to this office, and I would like to get my last permanent dentures. I only got my temporary ones, and they're about to fall apart. I have never seen a business be so difficult and not work with me.

I don't have a car, so it's not easy for me to get anywhere, and the closest office to here, besides Foley, is in Daphne. But, again, there's a ride issue, so I'm very displeased with this business.

Theyre trying to charge me $232 for cleaning of my gums and to fill 4 cavities. They havent even contacted Aetna about the procedures Im having done and Im not suppose to pay anything.

When I called yesterday one of the ladies in the billing department called me hard headed and laughed at me. Im having knee replacement surgery Monday and I need this done. My appointment is at 11:30 ga time today and they wont answer me nor Aetna my insurance company. Ive already paid $40 for what?

Probably wont get it back.

This is not how a office is suppose to be ran. I need this done before my surgery because it might interfere with my recovery.

You think $232 is a lot of money for exam, cleaning, and fillings??? Do you live in the 1960s?

Why is it their responsibility to contact Aetna?

It is YOUR insurance. Why don't you spend 30 minutes on hold to talk to them?

It is THEIR responsibility though. Always has been, always will be.

Anytime your insurance is being used, the facility activating a charge MUST contact the insurance company. That’s law

You are full of baloney. There is no legal obligation for a dental office to do anything for an insured patient.

If the office bills fraudulently, that is a crime, whether insured or not. A lot of dentists give the patient completed insurance forms and patients them to send them in. We have no obligation whatever to call any insurance company. We cannot afford to be on hold for 30 minutes.

You need to do that. You made a big mistake going to shysters like Aspen.

Worst company I have ever dealt with

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Bob Fontana

I have been dealing with this issue for one year and am no closer to having a resolution. This has been the most frustrating and irritating company and customer service to deal with.

I cannot stress enough, DO NOT USE ASPEN DENTAL FOR ANYTHING.

My husband got dentures about a year ago and the staff at the Woburn location told him a total sum of money that he is responsible for. My husband took their word and took out a credit card to pay off this sum. What the staff failed to tell my husband is that this is the total before insurance covers anything, so by taking out that sum, he will be actually overpaying by more than seventy (70) percent.

Thankfully, I know how my insurance works and this is where it becomes frustrating.

I have dual dental insurance and not one person at this company seems to understand how it works. I have called over 15 times in the last year to get the status of my claim. It seems no one knows how to use two insurances and I have yet to receive a bill of my ACTUAL price after both insurances have paid out. Mind you, I will also have to deal with reimbursement after my claim is finally adjudicated correctly.

I have been told countless times there's a ticket open, the claim is processing, waiting for insurance, you'll know in 2 weeks, etc.

Well, it has now been a year and I have had to make minimal payments on this credit card, aka overpaying to pay a total that is more than 70% more than I am supposed to pay. And no one is able to help or move this forward. I keep being told to call back in 2 weeks and every time there is no answer. I have gone into the physical location multiple times and it's always someone new I have to talk to and explain everything from the start.

I cannot put into words how awful dealing with Aspen Dental has been. Now I understand why there is a class-action lawsuit against this company for deceiving their patients.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

Worst office in the 50 states

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I have been a live for 52 years, and this is the very worse dentist I have ever had been to. First, I showed up at 9 am for a 10 am appointment for an infected tooth along with sever pain.

the lady had no idea how to find my insurance until 1030am which I missed my appointment and was asked to come back a 2. I came back at 2 pm and didnt get seen until 3 pm. I got my x-rays and was put in a room for another 30 minutes. Then a Hygienist came in and started to check my teeth, which I didnt come in for a exam.

While she was doing the unwanted job she was very fast and poor at her job so much that she gave two teeth that I dont even have in my head because I was born without two top teeth. Then I waited another 15 to 20 minutes for the dentist to check out my infected tooth and told me that he couldnt do anything to relieve my pain except give me more meds which he forgot to write the prescription. Then I was put in another room for another 20 minutes. then a lady came and got me to give me my care plan.

I was in complete amazement about the cost of $856 plus $1823 after the insurance. I also received quote for deep cleaning for $1312 for the first half and $1424 for the second half of the cleaning when the hygienist when was incompetent by giving numbers for teeth that was not present for my entire life. along with $112 two fillings. They said I could not get my pain relived until I paid the hygienist bill and I had to wait for a specialist to do the root canal.

To top it off I got an email thanking for my visit for implants which I never inquired about. So I decide to get a second opinion the next day. Which I am glad I did because I got my pain relieved by a competent dentist for $900 for a root canal with a crown include.

This dentist office is complete scam and takes advantage of the elderly people. Beware and stay clear the bad reviews about this office is Definity true.

Extremely Bad Work

In January 2024, I visited the Aspen Dental location at 2020 Gulf Freeway in Texas City, seeking treatment for tooth sensitivity and a broken crown. My experience with this office has been nothing short of distressing and unprofessional.

Dentist Huy Q. Vuong performed a crown preparation on what I later discovered was a perfectly healthy tooth, according to both my insurance and subsequent X-rays. I suspect this was done purely for financial gain. When I raised my concerns with the owner, Brian Tran, he dismissed them without addressing the core issue.

The office manager, Timna Martin, and the hygienist, Natalie Y. Turner, claimed they performed a deep cleaning on both my upper and lower teeth. However, my insurance refused to cover this procedure, stating that it was done out of order. To add insult to injury, another dentist later informed me that no deep cleaning had actually been done on my teeth.

After experiencing significant pain with the permanent crown that Dr. Vuong placed, I returned to see Brian Tran. He attributed the pain to the crown not being filed down properly and irritating the gum. However, another dentist contradicted this explanation, asserting that the tooth itself was infected likely due to the damage caused by Dr.

Vuong. I believe that Dr. Vuong's actions led to this infection and that Brian Tran attempted to cover up the mistake. To make matters worse, Dr.

Vuong did not complete all the work I paid for, yet Timna Martin refused to refund me for the unfinished work. Instead, they sent me a $3,000 bill for procedures they claim were not covered by my insurance. When I contacted my insurance, they confirmed that Dr. Vuong had performed unnecessary crown preparation on a healthy tooth and that the hygienist, Natalie Turner, had not followed the correct protocol for the cleaning.

After months of effort, I finally obtained my dental records, only to discover that my signature had been forged on several consent forms. I have reported this incident to the Texas City Police, and it is currently under investigation.

If anyone else has experienced something similar at this location, I urge you to report it to the Texas City Police. You can also reach out to me directly at aspen2020texascityinfo@***.com.

Does not return calls

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Original review Sep 11, 2024

Last year I had a root canal. Ever since then I have had sensitivity in that area.

I had it looked at in July of this year at the Lancaster Aspen office.. The root canal person said I could have the root canal done again. She also said I may have a cracked tooth and may have to have it pulled. .

I opted to have it looked at again to see what the issue was rather than just losing the tooth. I was told it would not cost anything to have it checked to see if there was a cracked tooth or a missed canal. I was told by another person who does this that would be the best way to proceed. .

For most of July and half of August I left countless messages asking Jayden to call about an appointment. He never did. I finally got put through to him by calling the customer service number--they then called Jayden and connected the call to him. .

He had appointments the last week of August which I couldn't take, and the September calendar wasn't available yet. Now I am back to calling and leaving messages with no return phone calls.

I don't understand why they are ignoring me. The people I work with all the city are agreeing with me that this practice is very unprofessional.

Improper caps , billing, knot on jaw where extraction was done

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I was seen in Festus office for dental needs , after all said and done there were teeth filed down and caps done - there are layers to this issue most important one being the knot on my jaw where tooth was extracted - caps not fitting wright when I returned the day after they were put on and told it was fine after an X-ray was done to bill me for later. The caps are not correct they didnt fit from day one.

And for the visit of getting cleaning I was given a toothbrush kit and Not told I would be billed $130something for it , I would have declined it. When trying to get pain medicine issue resolved lets say I had no help with the person handling those calls even pharmacy had issues getting the staff to fix the issue.

I am not at all comfortable going back to this dentist for my pain and or my telling Dr that the caps didnt fit, to be told that is the way the mold/impression formed so it cant be wrong, Ive had my teeth for 50yrs at that appointment and I know that my teeth did not feel this way , nor did I have any troubles as the front 2 teeth were fine but Dr and staff pushed what ever they pushed and in the end Im miserable.

Not letting this dentist touch my teeth again and I have not paid anything on my bill cause it was to be all billed through the care credit and that was not done but either way Im not paying for dental work that was not and is not done properly. Not to mention the knot I have on my jaw line at extraction site.

So to say Im a very disappointed customer to put it nicely

Unbelievable

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I went in with a partial and my real tooth broke off while vacationing in Puerto Rico.. wanted to see if a tooth could be added to my plate or partial ..

The dentist stated I would have to send it off for two weeks; They suggested implants.. Who would have know she was pulling the broken tooth as well as the others to give me a full denture.. I took pictures of my teeth because she said all my teeth was broken.. No they wasnt ..

The full denture wouldnt stay up.. it was to big.. She put oxidant on the back and a rolled piece of gauge to hold it up and sent me own my way.. My friend was waiting and I like I cant believe it..

He went back inside because he thought it was coming to be 1 extraction not 5!! He wanted instructions on how to care for me.. I went back they filled the denture with liner to make it stay up.. The teeth on the sides we crocked..

My mouth is small to small for all them teeth!! They said just where it for a couple of days.. My cheeks are polled out my mouth is bucked barely can shout it.. How can I conduct my job speaking with customers all day..

I cant talk!! All this time I cant eat!! Who could sleep!! Wearing a mask!!

I go back at this point the damage is done.. what can I do!! They literally cut the teeth off even and the dentist kept saying it look so good!! Look so good right!!

I was like you make me laugh!!!

Im a intelligent person but this is mentally draining n depressing!!! They really dont care
