Got up early Sat to make my scheduled emergency appointment, arrived 15 minutes early, after waiting an hour the office never opened , several attempts to speak with someone, to be told the office wasn't opening Saturday and my appointment was cancelled! Did I mention...

What could they offer if they "Reach out to you?" Another bogus Saturday appointment???Here is something sad but true. Saturdays are usually a money loser for dentists.

Our employees dread working on Saturdays. A few of us dentists work Saturdays when we are young, but stop doing that pretty quickly. It only leaves the shyesters who own the corporate clinics to be open Saturdays. You happen to have picked worst of the shysters when you picked A$pen for a Saturday appointment. But others like Great Expressions won't be much better. If I were you, I would count it as a blessing you were not seen on Saturday.

At least your bank account and mouth wasn't butchered. Don't wait for them to "reach out!" Take it as a God-sent reprieve to make another choice in dentists!

Aspen Dental - Medical Negligence and Misdiagnoses
Aspen Dental - Medical Negligence and Misdiagnoses

Update by user Mar 19, 2016

We will soon be taking legal action against Aspen Dental of Wilkes-Barre, PA. I have seen numerous doctors since the incident with them and unfortunately their wrong-doings and negligence has caused me permanent and irreversible damage in my right eye (sight) and ear...

Occasionally abscesses do not show up readily on x-rays, especially on patients with very dense bone. Often teeth with beginning abscesses have confusing symptoms, or even no symptoms at all.

Every one in a great while, one even fools me, given erractic reactions to traditional pulp test.

So unless the abscess was obvious on the x-ray A$pen took, I doubt you have a very good case. Bad and weird things happen in life, and people are not entitled to a big money payout every time they happen.

Nevertheless, going to A$pen or any other corporate dental clinic was a lousy idea.

Here is what they tell the dentist: "Our patients are here today gone tomorrow" meaning drill and suck as much money out of patients as fast as possible before they wise up and leave. Aspen dental=fraudulent bloodsuckers. No aspen worker cares because the will quit soon.

Well, you are another patient that learned the hard way.

You see, A$pen Dental began as a third rate operation to yank teeth out and insert cheap dentures, and it is hard to shake that heritage.

My question is why you did not recoil in horror when they suggested all your teeth be extracted. You needed to scram then and there from that clinic.

Actually Dr.

Lakireddy is NOT the dentist that owns the place. He is known as the Fake Owner Dentist that fronts for A$pen to make it look legal for your Board of Dentistry. The truth is a grubby leveraged buyout group owns this sleazy chain. The dentists work for the investors who own the joint, NOT the patients' welfare.

The second worst thing you could have done would have been to let this clown club try to put implants in your mouth.

You only need to visit the Aspen Dental Horrors Facebook page to see what would have been the result.

NEVER patronize a chain clinic that is owned by non-dentists. When investors and executives can pressure dentists into doing things they should not to gain the company more revenue, patient care always suffers.

Glad you learned your lesson and you don't think it was only THIS Aspen has a problem. The problem is with their corporate ownership model.

They are all controlled chaos due to many factors, including frequent employee turnover.

I really don't think you had your jawbone "cracked." After extractions it is not unusual for little pieces of bone to come loose and float to the surface. It is a nuisance, but fairly easy to treat.

You could have bought a Sonicare or Crest Spinbrush for a lot less money than that Rotadent they peddle for $126. Of course, it is one of their big profit centers...

And if you are thinking, "Well, Aspen is no good, I will just try Coast Dental, Western Dental, Dental One, ad infinitum...." They are all different animals in the same species. Forget about crumby corporate clip joints, unless you want more of the same kind of treatment.

Find an honest dentist who owns the practice in which he works, and stick with him. That will give you continuity of treatment, something sadly lacking in the corporate clinic model.

I never have understood how patients who always neglected patronizing dentists should expect to get front-of-line, red-carpet treatment when their own neglect catches up with them. The most you can expect is that you will be numbed up to relieve your pain, then wait a while until a patient is late or fails to show up.

What do you think? You should take precedence over other people that have appointments and kept them?

Unless you happen to walk into a dental office, or any other type of office for that matter, when there are no one else there, you should not expect for everybody in the business to drop work on everyone else and come to your rescue. In the scheme of things, you are just not more important than everyone else in the world. How do you know the other patients being treated at the time did not have urgent needs, too?

In my office, new toothache patients are treated politely but firmly.

First, they are told they are responsible for any charges incurred that day, regardless of insurance. That is because toothache patients are generally irresponsible financially. Then they are numbed with long-acting anesthetic. We give them our best estimate of when an opening in our schedule will occur, and have them return that day.

Then we do the maximum we have time to do to get them out of pain.

You made two big mistakes: 1 Apparently you never established a relationship with a good dental practice for preventive treatment. If you had, they would have taken care of your needs. This meant you had to haphazardly search for any dentist in a hurry when hurting. 2.

You went to a sleazy corporate chain clinic which lies in their TV ads.

What to do? Go to an honest dentist on a regular basis so they will treat problems before they become gigantic toothaches.

Forget any sleazebag corporate chain with a big advertising budget. This means they have high patient turnover, almost always with good reason.

First of all, let me say I am a Navy veteran. When I was in uniform, they took care of all our dental and medical needs before letting us out.

Now you have one Clown Club (the VA) sending you to another Clown Club (Aspen Dental.)

Used to be, when the VA sent me a veteran to treat, they paid my normal reasonable fees.

Now they want me to treat veterans at a 25% discount, which would be basically treating them at breakeven. Cannot do that. So you have to know that nobody really wants to treat VA patients anymore, like they used to.

But why they sent you to the *** clinic that they did is a mystery. Of all the places they could send you, this is the place that would be least likely to provide honest and competent treatment.

It is not even owned by dentists!

Don't know what to tell you.

Dentists have to make a living like anyone else, and cannot do it at a 25% discount like the VA demands without doing billing fraud. You might have to find a decent dentist and pay for the treatment out of pocket.
