Aspen -dental brentwood ----

The young dentist, had..such a attitude, he said these are not made especially for you, ??? I think when you applying over 12k,,, then he said you need o gwt the bottoms ripped out, of course they are CORPORATE... I think all dental offices like these need to be reviewed, especially when it's not lack of taking c/o but incidents... I think also they should reimburse you for teeth,, that you get temp from dentist or corp. , dental associations need to look into and i shall be writing to them ... on top of it, no one knew the name of the powder instead of that nasty creme where you cant even swallow nor eat .. I see they use afoot operated nal file basically, and they could cut away the palette altogether for that kind of cash!!!!

Your post does not make too much sense.

The only thing I can tell you is that Dental Associations cannot "look into" corporate clinics, because dental associates have not regulatory power except over accreditation of dental schools.

State Boards regulate dental professionals. Unfortunately, because you tried to cheap out by going to a sleazy corporate chain clinic, owned by investors instead of dentists, your state board is virtually powerless to stop the patient rip-offs.

It would take your state attorney general to do it, but he has to receive enough complaints to act.

Made a big mistake letting them extract your lower teeth. You will pay dearly for going for going to a one stop chop shop like A$pen instead of an honest and competent dentist in private practice.

Why did you think this corporate den of thieves was a "respectful company?" Are you one of those people that actually believes glitzy TV commercials?

It is anything but. It is a corporation owned by a leveraged buyout group that uses a team of lawyers to circumvent state practice laws that restrict ownership of dental practices to licensed dentists.

At A$pen, the dentists are just hired help that do the bidding of their corporate managers.

In other words, take the patients for as much money as they can possibly pry out of their wallets.

Wow, what I or any other reputable dentist could have done for you for $20,000! You could have magnetically retained overdentures, for example. Or we could have saved a few strategic teeth and done partial dentures for a lot less money.

Wow, you made a big mistake.

Guess what? Since you chose an investor-owned clinic, your state board of dentistry can't do much to help you.

Try to be more skeptical of advertisements in the future!

I went to Aspen dental in 2012 they told me I had 14 cavities. I could not afford to have all of them filled so I chose one side. Before I let them fill my supposedly cavities my mouth was fine. now the only place I have trouble are the teeth they filled. They told me I had an issues with these teeth and I was going to need to have them redone. They charge me full price to fix their mistake. I asked how long are fillings suppose to last and the told me 20 years. Unfortunately mine has been hurting since day one.

Rarely do composite resin fillings on back teeth last 20 years. Of course, if you had gone to a traditional dentist that still did amalgam, there is a good chance that those fillings would still be functioning in your mouth 35 years later.

Don't worry, if you continue to have problems with those teeth, A$pen will do root canals on them for a high price.

And after that, crumby crowns fabricated in China.

Cut your losses now and go to a decent dentist in private practice. Forget about the investor-owned chain clinic clown clubs.

Aspen Dental - Tooth Extraction Review from Kerrville, Texas

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Today, June 2, at 11a.m. I had a tooth extracted. This is not only an evasive procedure, it can also be quite painful afterwards. Anyways, after the procedure, Dr. Patel said that Tylenol should be fine for the pain. When I had my wisdom teeth pulled, it was extremely painful after and my mother refused to allow me to take the pain meds perscribed. Thus, was forced to take ibuprofen which did not work by any means, and the pain was so untollable I couldn't eat for three days. I've had two other extractions since, and all of the doctors prescribed me medication for the pain, saying it was going to hurt. And oh yes, it did. Dr. Patel on the other hand said I would be okay and there was nothing to worry about. As for their bedside manner, absolutely rude, inconsiderate, and dismissive. I felt as if I were a mannequin to practice on. I will NEVER use Aspen Dental again, let alone recommend them. I guess dental work is like getting a tatoo; you get what you pay for.....

Did you ever stop to stress that you have an issue with pain and request something stronger? You need to be more proactive in your own health.

Any medical professional is not God. My guess is if you have that much of an issue with that particular doctor, you could have requested a more senior dentist.

Guest

Yes, I stressed how much of a low pain tolerance I had. Also, you can only use the doctor scheduled for the day.

Unless I changed appointments. But this was an emergency and unfortunately, all I could afford at the time .

Guest

Never having had a tattoo, I cannot vouch for that.

Some patients have very high pain thresholds, and don't need any prescription pain meds. Some patients have very low thresholds, and need the strongest med there is.

What can we do but prescribe an average-strength pain med.

If too strong, the patient can cut it in half.

If not strong enough, we have to prescribe narcotics.

You made a big mistake going to a sleazy corporate chain dental clinic where investors own the joint instead of dentists. Go find a real dentist in your community known for competence and fair dealing with the pubic in your community.

It was an emergency and unfortunately all I could afford at the time. But yes, you are correct, in saying, I should have picked someone other than a "chain".

But I still find it odd I've never had nor heard of a dentist extracting a tooth without given atleast one to two days of something more capable of easing the pain than an OTC like Advil or iBpouphen.

Receipt called my advance payment an outstanding balance.

Today, after my crown was fitted to my tooth, I paid the entire balance. I had already paid a substantial amount as the deposit on the crown. I paid the balance today and assumed i was going to see a "paid in full" on the receipt. To my surprise, instead, next to "outstanding balance", there was the amount I had paid in advance of the fitting as a deposit! I objected and said I wanted that removed and a show of zero balance. instead, the office manager kept insisting that the statement made above that explained i made full payment. She said she could not remove the credit from the outstanding balance line because she "could not drop down another line". Either she is trying to cheat me or she is incompetent or Aspen Dental has an incompetent billing programmer. I am never never going to return to Aspen Dental even though I love the dentists and the hygienists.

Preferred solution: Aspen Dental should correct its receipt and billing procedures. The company should correct its receipt program so a full payment can be noted as "balance paid in full."in full.

If you look at the side of the crown, you will see Made in China written on it. China is where they get their crowns made, $3 crown from *** lab.

Guest

Well, if you will read but 10 reviews, you will see about half of A$pen have this same complaint of overbilling and not being able to get a refund. That is what cash-strapped corporations do: hang on to YOUR money, in hopes that you will eventually give up and let them keep it.

Is it really worth the trouble to keep patronizing this crooked chain, owned by Wall Street investors instead of dentists?

Do you really like to constantly scrutinize your bill, and spend time demanding refunds?

If so, just keep on the same path. If not, you might want to try changing to an honest dentist in your community who owns his own practice.

Stay away from Aspen Dental, Rockford,IL

I had a horrible experience at Aspen. It took two hours for the exam, and then I was charged $187.20 for the $19.00 special.

They told me that I should get all my teeth pulled and get dentures from them. NEVER! They are *** artists! I was not informed of any of their charges before the exam.

Their response to their charges was that I had insurance. I have a supplemental AFLAC (actually it is my wife's policy). It is not met to be considered actual dental insurance. Why would I pay $112.20 for an exam that would cost $19.00 if I did not have insurance.

A 6 year old child could figure the stupidity of this. Their fraudulent practices need to be stopped.

I just got new the other day that A$pen reached a consent order with yet ANOTHER state attorney general (the 4th one so far) to stop deceptive advertising practices. These clowns won't be satisfied until they get slammed in all 50 states.

You are right.

$19 means $19, whether you have insurance or not.

This Sleazeball operation started in New York long ago as an El Cheapo Yand-all-your-teeth-and-slap-dentures-in-you-mouth outfit. That heritage remains with them to this day. They extract WAY too many teeth that could be saved.

They did you a favor trying to scam you. You walked.

Imagine your condition if you had followed their advice!

Find an honest, competent dentist who owns his own practice.

These are the guys and gals interested in long-term patient satisfaction. Forget the cheesy, investor-owned corporate chain clinics!

Paid a lot for dentures that don't fit right, rubbing sores in my mouth, hate the dentures .I have had them adjusted several times and still the same old way.You can look at them and tell that they are not right, one sid higher than other side,Also, when they pulled my teeth which I'm not sure they all needed it,but left a tag left in my gum, which goes numb and hurts at times.I would love to get my money back where I could get some new ones somewhere else. You can sit them the the part that is the roof and see they are not right.

Looks like a normal cheap denture to me. Some patients have high palates and the dentures look like this.

Some people's mouths are not symmetrical.

Can't really conclude anything from these pictures. Would have to see how they fit in your mouth.

Guest

Man, did you make a mistake going to a joint like that! They routinely extract teeth than can and should be saved, to pave the way for their cr@***y dentures.

How much better off you would have been with a few teeth and partial dentures, or a couple of roots and an overdenture. Too late now!

Patient discover too late that dentures are no panacea. Then it costs thousands to go back and have implants.

Don't know why you chose this den of thieves for treatment. Was it the TV ads promising all the money you would save.

Now try getting the problem rectified, or your money refunded. Got a few thousand dollars to hire a lawyer? A complaint to the board of dentistry won't help either as they are operating illegally anyway.

It is always more prudent to trust a local independent businessman for a service rather than a corporate chain.

Next time, go to a private dentist with his own practice that has a good reputation in the community. Try and look for the cheapest dentures out there and you will only be scammed again.

Overdentures or partials with attachments are used routinely in prosthodontics, cost thousands less than implants, require much less surgery and can be modified with implants if and when the need arises. Google "telescopic denture" ***.

Many countries like Germany and Sweden consider them a standard of care. Obviously you printed your own dental degree from Photoshop or, if you are a dentist, you have no *** clue how to do any of the above and should be embarrassed.

No one leaves roots and does overdentures who works in fleabag corporate dental clinics, apparently. As for not being done anymore, just look in the Removable Prosthodontic section of DentalTown.com.

A little over a year ago I had 8 bottom teeth removed and new dentures made for the top. I had my first upper denture done in 2004. Those teeth were beautiful and fit great. When it came time to get my lowers pulled I went to aspen dental in marion indiana. The promise for a new smile and a great fit were promised but not delivered. I payed almost 4000 for my new teeth that look and fit terrible. I have went back on numerous occasions for adjustments and the results were always the same. I deserve my money back for this service. I have to use adhesive to keep them in and whenever I eat I have to reapply the adhesive. I cannot *** into anything because the teeth aren't lined up correctly so eating a simple cheeseburger is out of the question. This is false advertising by this company. I am 100% unsatisfied. Aspen Dental - Tooth Extraction Review from Downers Grove, Illinois

Aspen dental is a God *** joke! I had a broken molar from an accident, and it was causing me great pain. At the time, the company I worked for went under and I was surviving by flipping burgers at McDonalds. I called Aspen dental because I heard they did payment plans. I explained my situation and told the woman that I was low income. She said :"you don't need to worry mam. Aspen dental's goal is to help low income families get the care they need. We will do everything we can to help you." I felt a huge weight lift from my shoulders and I made re appointment. They did x-rays and have me the 5 star treatment. I say with them to discuss what to do. I said I wanted the tooth extracted. The woman in charge of financing told me it would cost $5200. "for 1 tooth?" I said. She replied, "No. The molar extraction, plus all 4 wisdom teeth, plus repair 6 cavities, plus teeth cleaning, gum flush and fixing a few chips." I told her just the molar. She said it would be $1100 and I needed to give them $800 up front. I reminded her about our earlier conversation, she remembered and I told her this wasn't helpful at all and I stormed out crying. Aspen Dental could not care less about helping people of low income and will help you as long as you have money. don't go to these people they are a bunch of liars and cheaters they don't care about you.

Classic A$pen false advertising, and bait and switch.

They had no interest in helping you. If they did, they would have taken just ONE x-ray of your broken tooth for $40 or less, Then quoted you the fee for a surgical extraction at most.

That would have been a MAXIMUM of $265 in my office. $800 is highway robbery to extract an erupted tooth.

You see the whole scam in plain view now. This is a clip joint owned by Wall Street investors rather than dentists. The modus operandus is to lure patients in offering "free" exams and x-rays.

But rather than treating the urgent problem on the first visit, their goal is to treatment plan every possible procedure they can do on you, and rope you into putting it all on a high-interest proprietary credit card. Once they get your money, just try getting the treatment performed punctually and professionally.

Sad to tell you, but the only payment plans good dentists have is via 3rd parties like Care Credit.

It is just too risky to self-finance treatment.

Good luck! Please find a competent dentists and avoid the corporate chain chop shops like A$pen, Coast, Great Expression, etc.

Ever had your BLOOD PRESSURE taken at the dentist office? You will here. I think it's so they can tell how high they raised it. Do NOT ask questions about any procedures, just lay there and listen to the scam. Went for first time ROUTINE exam and the hygienist told me I had periodontal disease, she could tell with the naked eye. I have seen a board certified U of M dentist 2 or more time a year for the last 25 years with no complaints and had oral surgery within the last 15 months for a crown and root canal. They told me those doctors wouldn't know about periodontal disease. I went here because they were in network with my new insurance, they didn't even clean my teeth, just poked my gums until they bled. Finally saw a Doctor Scott he left his fathers practice to work for a national chain clinic????? Unusual to say the least. He said, I MAY have periodontal disease, that's why they want to do a procedure that your insurance, MAY pay for, that might prevent it. SO I DON'T have a disease, but you MAY have it. BOTTOM LINE, AVOID, unless you like being vilified in public. It appears their just trying to find ways to suck cash out of you.

Nothing wrong with taking blood pressures in dental offices. Good dentists do it all the time.

I have alerted patients many times to undetected hypertension and perhaps saved some lives. Anesthetics raise blood pressure a bit, and it is dangerous to treat hypertensive patients. We must know if blood pressure is high. Often patients don't know it is high!

What really happened to you?

1.

You had a great dentist who cared for you well.

2. Your employer changed insurance to a crumby plan with very low reimbursement rates. This was to save your employer premium dollars.

3. Such crumby dental plans make it impossible for honest dentists to turn a profit.

The only entities who participate in these crumby plans are crooked corporate chains lie A$pen, as they have no problem with shoddy treatment, overtreatment, and fraudulent billing.

4. Because saving money was so important to you, you abandoned your honest dentist of 25 years to go to these shysters. 5. Big surprise!

They tried to fleece you! My advice is to drop your crumby, low-paying dental plan. Put the premiums you save in a designated account for dental services and go back to your old dentists.

Many employer-based dental plans are worthless. Yours sound like one of them.

Thank goodness you knew the status of your mouth going in. Can you imagine what an innocent patient might believe who had not visited a dentist in a while?

Now you know the truth- not to believe any health professional that advertises on TV.

An advertiser can pay to tell any lie they want on TV.

Most professionals that advertise on TV have very high patient turnover rates. And the patients come and go for good reason!

Going to dental clinics owned by Wall Street investors instead of dentists is universally a bad idea!

Inappropriate Behavior

I went to get a simple extraction and then dentures. The plan was moving along until the time of extraction when the dentist had to try to take the tooth out in pieces. After some time she finally called the surgeon in to finish her job. He simply showed her how and simply pulled the rest of the tooth out with ease. My aching mouth now looked like world war one. Next time I was in I was joking around with the assistant saying I was butchered which I really was but rather than feel sorry I just joked about it. The dentist overheard me and came rushing in and saying it was disrespectful and that I could be dismissed as a patient. I guess she could not bear to hear she did a *** job in trying to simply pull a tooth and had to call in someone else to finish her work. It was such inappropriate behavior it was like she was talking to a 2 year old admonishing me in front of her assistant. I am a elderly person so I have no room for this type of behavior. I should have just walked out. When going for the first time the workers were unfriendly and unattentive to the patients waiting. Once I spoke up and told the office manager that they were not "receptionists" the next time in they suddenly got very friendly. It was a high pressure sales from the start and just a very bad place that would take advantage of anyone who walked through the door if you did not questions anything. I would NOT recommend this place to anyone.

Here you have what happens so often in these corporate chain clinics: Recent graduates loaded with student loan debt are employed very cheaply. A gun is put to their head to produce revenues in a hurry.

They are pressured NOT to make referrals to specialists. They need the commissions, anyway. So they attempt hard procedures they probably should not try, like difficult extractions.

You were not "butchered" because a tooth had to be removed by sectioning. We often have to section teeth to get them out.

You might have had a little more trauma because the first young dentist was trying to extract it for so long.

So your comment about being "butchered" probably stung deeper than you thought, and was not wise, even joking. But they way over-reacted to this.

Not sure why you went to a corporate viper's nest to have dentistry done, instead of a regular dentist. Maybe you are a person who thinks TV commercials are the gospel truth.

Please find a dentist you can trust that works in his or her own practice. You will not be happy with any denture coming from this place.

Broken lower plate.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
A short time ago, maybe a year and a half, two wears most, I had both upper and lower dentures made at Aspen. The uppers fit like a glove, no complaint there. The lowers have never fit at all. Repeated visits usually got a re-line, which helped, but after a week they flopped like a leaf in the wind again. At my last visit, I requested some adjustment of some kind. They were so loose that at a funeral I sneezed and out they came. Embarrassing to say the least. The Dentist told me that more adjustments would end to more problem, so his recommendation was to leave them alone. Well, here I am a few months later, and while munching on Ritz crackers, the denture (lower), snapped right in two. Dah!! Now the office crew and the Assistants have been marvelous to me and a pleasure to work with. However, the Dentists at the Portland Lab seem to be in a "training mode". This belief drops my confidence level to the point where I'm not really sure what to do. 207-892-****. don

Lab work is abysmal at this chain. However, it could be that you just do not have enough bone left on the bottom to hold a denture securely.

I have not examined you, but the only answer may be implants.

See a competent dentist OUTSIDE A CHAIN CLINIC to verify this. If it is the case, UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD YOU GO TO A$PEN TO GET IMPLANTS AND IMPLANT DENTURE FABRICATED.

Don't know why you chose this cheesy chain to do something as complicated as constructing dentures, but you sure chose wrong.
