I went to Aspen Dental as it was recommended by a friend. I had a tooth that needed to be pulled. So, I go in for their free comprehensive exam, got the x-ray, then the consultation. I was informed a root canal and crown was needed at the cost of $2400, then was pushed hard to get the credit care card and I could make $66 a month payments for four years to which I said no, that's just too much so pull it. I applied for the card wanting to put the extration on it which I could pay off pretty easily. I go in for the extraction this morning and informed the woman at the desk I would be using the credit care card to pay for the extraction at which point she tells me, "Oh, we require a $200 charge minimum to charge the card." A point which she failed to tell me at the intitial consultation when I was signing up for the card, mind you, this is THEIR office policy, NOT the credit card policy. I thought, ok then we'll do that and I will have credit to get a cavity taken care of. So, I go back to get ready to have tooth pulled and the dental assistant comes in with a blood presssure band he put on my wrist. Never had that before at a dentist office but whatever. My blood pressure registered at 178 over 80, which I knew was not possible as I was calm as I could be considering where I was. So, he takes it again and it's 199 over 80, I said there's no way it's that high or I'd be in trouble. He takes my blood pressure with an actual blood pressure cup and it's high at 170, I told him I"m always high when I'm this nerveous. It didn't help that they have open offices and I was listening to a woman next to me screaming in pain..huh. Ya think??? Then he procedes to tell me they can't extract the tooth as I might have a stroke in the chair. He then states he can perscrible Valum to calm me down but if I should fall asleep then the extraction would be considered a "surgical procedure" which would be $238 PLUS the cost of the extraction which, of course, depended on how hard it was to take out. Ok, so who stays awake when on Valum? So, in other words this so called corperate dental place wants to make a simple extraction into a surgical procedure in order to make more money. I am 54 and this is not my first time having a tooth pulled. Between being told initally the extraction could round $130 and ending up being told cost would be about $450 then being told there is a minamun charge of $200 in order for me to use the credit care card I felt like I had been suckered into a scam. They lie, they are over priced and they mislead you. I was so pissed at being told I would have to deal with the pain of this tooth until my blood pressure went down that I left with nothing being done. I know my body and I know it was high due to the pain I was in for the past two weeks, my blood pressure was not going to go down untl the pain was gone. I came home and immediately canceled the credit care card, called a local dentist who got me in RIGHT away and I got my tooth pulled..all done in about 45 minutes. No BS blood pressure or exhobant cost. The reviews on Aspen Dental are awful, they are a corporate dental office and they MAIN mission to get as many people in as possible and to *** with the patient. Why in the *** do they have open offices like that? Who wants to hear other people moaning in pain while they are sitting there? I don't. Stay away from these *** the only thing they care about is your pocket book.
Aspen is great at sucking you money dry.
Yep, A$pen is famous for deep cleaning patients' wallets. Not so famous for doing dental treatment competently.
Guess you did not know that these clinics are owned by Wall Street investor riffraff and not licensed dentists, did you?
Good luck getting satisfaction or a refund. This cash-strapped outfit typically has to be threatened by a legal action before they make good on defective treatment.
Don't bother with your state dental board as they can't do a thing about clinics not owned by licensed dentists. You made a big mistake not going to an independent dentist.
