Billing for xrays

I was seen 4/16 for teeth cleaning. We have dental insurance that covers xrays. Why do I keep getting a bill for$49? Please respond ASAP. I will be finding a new dentist if this is not resolved. Becky Bell 602-451-****

Becky, you would do better to find a new dentist NOW, before a family member gets mistreated. A lot more bad can happen than paying out of pocket for x-rays.

Could be you have a frequency issue with your insurance. Look at your own EOB. Typically companies don't alloy bitewing x-rays more than once a year. A whole year may not have passed.

You can't win when your dental office is owned by greedy Wall Street types instead of licensed dentists. I review treatment from A$pen patients all the time and it is mediocre at best.

Why We're My Upper Dentures So Expensive?

Someone from Aspen Dental In Grand Island, Nebraska needs to contact me as soon as possible.

Original review Jul 22, 2018
About 3 years ago I went to Aspen Dental in Grand Island, Nebraska. I had My top teeth extracted & they sent Me home with a temporary upper denture that I was supposed to wear for about 6-12 months and then I would be fitted for my permanent upper denture plate. I wasn't able to get financing so I paid Aspen Dental in full or were $4,000 buy cashier's check and then they were able to schedule my first appointment. Recently I've been asking other people who also have dentures what they had to pay do you have their teeth extracted and a full set of Dentures upper and lower. Everyone I have talked to you recently has told me that they paid half or 1/3 what I paid Aspen Dental. And the majority of these people have upper and lower denture plates. I only have an upper plate. Why was I charged so much?

First of all, nobody can tell you online what it "should have cost" because they don't know how many teeth were extracted, whether they were simple or surgical extractions, and whether any bone contouring was required. All I can tell you is that in my prosthodontic practice in Dallas an upper denture takes minimum 5 appointments and cost $1900.No matter how much Aspen charges you, you will get a bottom of the barrel denture.

Husband made an appt without telling me and had to pay over 5k upfront for extractions and dentures, they billed insurance wrong so they could use every last penny. He was charged 2k for 6 month temps instead of 399.00. Got his comfilytes 8 months later and they are heavier than the others and look the same. even with warranty they will not give money back as they say

comfi-junks are a marketing scam to hook fools into buying even junkier dentures. It doesn't matter what type denture they sell you they all have the same 99 cent junk teeth from china in them.

There is nothing superior about Aspen's so-called "Comfylyte" dentures. They are just a gimmick to charge you no more money.

The flexible material makes more sense in cheap partials than full dentures. It is difficult to impossible to reline. Also, denture teeth do not bond to the nylon-like material well so the teeth frequently come out. Yanking all the teeth out at one time and making temporary dentures is not taught in any dental school that I know of.

It is a bastardized technique. It is better to take all the teeth out all at once and do bone surgery, then allow AT LEAST 3 months of healing before impressions are taken. Even so, the dentures will need relines in a short time. The bottom line is it was a huge mistake all your husband's teeth.

Some teeth are better than no teeth. Aspen is famous for yanking out good and bad teeth alike.

You made a huge mistake taking your husband to a gyp-joint like Aspen instead of a regular dentist in private practice. A good rule to follow is to never go to any health professional that advertises on TV.

Poorly fitting dentures still after 10 months

I still do not have a denture that fits or that I can wear without being in pain all the time. I have spent hours in that office waiting around they put you in a room and leave you sit they want assistants to treat you not the dentist.

Do you know WHY they make you sit for hours only to see an assistant and not a dentist? At Aspen, profitability rules the roost.

Priority is given to the most profitable procedures. Adjustments on dentures they made is a no-charge procedure. Nobody makes any money.

So denture adjustment appointments are the LAST in priority. You made a mistake when you went to a sleazy corporate clinic owned by investors rather than a regular dentist who owns his practice.

Horrible experience...

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I had a dental emergency 15 June, and my regular dentist was closed so I contacted Aspen dental and they scheduled an appointment for 16 June. I was called this morning and told They couldn’t see me as soon was a new patient and they would have to reschedule me. I said it was an emergency. Didn’t make a difference. I can’t believe it. Reschedule a dental emergency? Wow. That’s great customer service. Why didn’t the person the day before know this? I went all night in pain & unable to eat. Then had to try and find another dentist, which I did and have to drive 2 1/2 hours just to get something done. I can’t eat, can’t sleep, but your company says I can wait days to be seen?? Your website said you do dental emergencies. Also said you take walking. But I called so I could make sure you took my insurance and would be able to help. Obviously you need to rewrite your advertising since it’s false. Horrible treatment. My appointment was supposed to be at your Peach Street, Erie PA office. I will make sure I pass on to friends and family what happened. I will not recommend your company to anyone. Update.. after my appointment was cancelled, the closest emergency dentist was 2 1/2 hrs away. Arrived and wIted an additional 4 hrs only to have to have the tooth pulled. Then drive 2 1/2 hrs back home.

Well, you were between a rock and a hard place. But what would have happened if they had seen you that day?

Would they have treated your toothache?Probably not. They would have done x-rays on all your teeth, then done an exam. Then figured out everything they could possibly do for you. Then got you to take out a loan to prepay it.

And for your toothache, they would have just given you a prescription.

So really you would not have been much better off had they seen you. That's how the scammin' runs at A$pen. The mystery is that if you were a regular patient of a private dentist, why didn't he have is pager or cell phone on to help his patients that get into trouble.

Went there over a year ago with a toothache. 3 extractions later and a partial bridge still being worked on ... Nothing! Still major toothache. They sent me to a specialist ... $200 later, who said he can't do anything. Now waiting to hear back from Aspen to see what they can do. No call back ... Not surprised. Guess I will nag again tomorrow .....

Very unhappy with Aspen dentures

I purchased the most expensive dentures with the lifetime warranty. They have never fit correctly. When I have returned for repairs or adjustments, I was made to feel like the problems were all my fault. Oftentimes I had to wait several days for Aspen denture repairs and had to make emergency repairs myself. The minute I made the first repair, the warranty was voided, and all future repairs were my responsibility. The technician broke one of my dentures while doing repairs. This denture has cracked many times in exactly the same location as the original break. Several times, I have brought my dentures in for repairs and the repair did not even last 24 hours. All in all, my experience with Aspen has been disappointing, to say the least. I guess my main advice is that the lifetime warranty means absolutely nothing. After spending thousands of dollars on the "highest quality" dentures and then spending thousands more on dental implants to secure the ill-fitting bottom dentures, I still do not have a product that is usable.

"Highest Quality" LOL. Aspen's best dentures are a far cry from the worst dentures a dental student makes on a really bad day.

Stupid flexible Comfylyte dentures don't bond well to denture teeth so they fall out frequently. Can't be relined easily. Nothing superior about them. You have been fleeced by crooks using a marketing gimmick.

And to top it off, you let them place the notorious "mini-implants" in you.

How many have fallen out already? You win the Aspen "Take me to the Cleaners" award!

Sheryl, My sympathy about your oral cancer. I am sure it was a horrible thing to go through.

Oral cancer is on the increase because of a virus! Many times after cancer therapy the mouth dries up and patients are not able to tolerate dentures. This is not the dentist's fault. I believe Georgia has a dental school is in Augusta.

Why on earth did you go to a terrible corporate clinic like Aspen when you could have gotten quality dentures at so much less expense at a dental school? Dental schools are always short of full denture patients, and work with radiation patients all the time!

To be exact this is the fourth set(4).All of them were orderd by a regular dentist not of bunch of guessers, and I can't get a partial refund.I know a lot of people that need dental work but I will not recommend Aspen Dental.

So you had three previous sets of dentures by private dentists that worked okay. Then for the fourth set, you decided not to go back to your previous dentist, but instead go to the biggest flim-flam dental chain in America? Why did you make that decision?

The only amazing part of your story is you got any money back. Not many patients manage to do that without the threat of a lawsuit.

Only two dentists worked on you? That is a little surprising since new dentists come and go so often at this sleazy chain. Got to remember that denture adjustments are a no-charge procedure. That means they have little incentive to book denture patients once all their money has been collected for a procedure.

There are many competent and honest dentists out there, but hardly any work for corporate chain dental clinics. Guess it is time to go find one.

Scammed

Hygienist told me she could not perform a regular cleaning, could only perform a deep cleaning which would cost a "little bit more". She also said I needed a crown and a filling, and could schedule all three treatments at once so I agreed. They required partial payment at that time with balance due prior to the treatments. When I returned and paid the balance to the receptionist, I asked for an itemized receipt. She said she would provide that on completion of the treatments. The hygienist then informed me that my entire mouth did not require the deep cleaning, just five spots in the back. On completion of the cleaning, I asked about the crown and filling. She said I was not scheduled for that. When asked what did I just pay for, she said I had only paid for the cleaning and that she knows nothing about prices. She had conveniently forgotten what she had told me on the previous visit about the deep cleaning costing "just a little bit more". I have records of my previous regular cleanings and know the cost, which is FIVE PERCENT of the amount of what they charged me for the deep cleaning. I would never have agreed to pay that much, the only reason I did was that I understood that this amount covered the filling and the crown. When I reminded the hygienist of what she had initially said about the cost, and scheduling the crown and filling together with the cleaning, she and the receptionist (who were the only staff on the premises) both told me I was confused. I am not confused. This was a blatant misleading.

And------another dissatisfied Aspen Dental customer. Who would have thunk it?

Yes, you got scammed, starting with the need for a "deep clean." This is how Aspen makes money, on selling you on the need for a deep clean and then charging an arm and a leg for everything else in addition to the large deep cleaning.

You apparently have had experience with dentists in the past. Cannot tell you what to do about the $700 you already paid, but I would run, no walk to a dentist in private practice in your area for any dental needs.

Not sure why they need a metal plate out of your jaw to make dentures. Never had one interfere with a denture, but I guess anything is possible.Whatever you do, don't let the Aspen clowns talk you into implants.

It would be a very, very bad mistake letting a clown club like Aspen put cheap implants in your mouth. Please go to an experienced dentist, preferably a prosthodontist like me, to be evaluated. Such people can give you the honest truth about what can be done in your mouth.

We try clowns like Aspen because we can’t afford folks like you. I have lousy teeth.

I got a $7000 estimate by my new dentist. ( my original retired) I cannot afford that no matter how you slice it

Guest
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-1526533

Funny thing is most estimates I see from the clowns at Aspen are more expensive than treatment estimates from independent dentists. Don't believe every stupid lying TV ad you see.

Making good dentures involves many hours of work when they patient is there and after the patient leaves.

If you think many hours of work by a highly trained professional should cost only a few hundred dollars you are obviously delusional. I've done estimates countless times and saving a few teeth to make partials is always cheaper.

Yeah, seems about right for an investor-owned chain of flam-flam outfits. But you could probably get the services for less than half at an honest independent dentist.

I hope you are talking about impacted wisdom teeth.

Because taking out teeth that could be saved would be a big mistake. You only have to read a few of these patient complaints about dentures to realize that.
